Kalocsa bookmark ITH - Eastern European inspired embroidery design

An Eastern European folk art style, locally applied, served as the inspiration for our latest embroidery design.

Included in the product are two versions of the embroidery design: one featuring beautifully arranged flowers. You can easily decorate shirts, trousers, skirts, or dresses with it. The other presents an in-the-hoop bookmark embroidery design adorned with these flowers. Both designs can be easily embroidered within a 4×4 hoop. We also include preparation instructions for the ITH version in German and English.

The carefully chosen colors for the embroidery mirror the authenticity of traditional embroidery threads. Each flower is thoughtfully embroidered using various shades of the same color, contributing to a harmonious and pleasing aesthetic. The contemporary trend highlights a vivid and colorful image, but it's fascinating to note that this journey began with monochromatic embroideries in the early 1900s. With the introduction of colored yarns, a delightful palette emerged, giving rise to the vibrant and colorful embroidery styles that continue to be appreciated today.

How to use this ITH bookmark embroidery designs?

We recommend creating the Kalocsa bookmark from non-woven material. We made our version from faux leather.

When the embroidery design changes to the last color, remove the hoop from the embroidery machine and tape another layer of fabric in cover the back of the embroidery.

Put the hoop back to the machine and embroider the stitch lines with slow speed of your embroidery machine to the end of the embroidery design.

Then take the hoop off the machine. Take the bookmark from the hoop and cut the material around the outside stitch line. 

This way, the back of the finished embroidery will be uniformly beautiful.
